Welded gabion basket is widely used in retaining wall structures, rockfall and soil protection, etc. Welded gabion baskets are filled on site with hard, durable stone to form massive gravity structures. Additionally, welded gabion baskets are quicker and easier to install than woven gabion baskets.
The welded gabion basket is made from cold drawn steel wire to provide tensile strength. It is electric welded and then hot-dip galvanized or PVC coated for longer service life. There are galvanized welded gabion baskets and welded PVC coated gabion baskets. Gabion baskets are designed on the principle of a massive retaining wall made of soil. The strength of the wire mesh helps withstand the forces created by the soil being held.
